“SAHARA: A Slum Visit” 

Gandhinagar University (GU), managed by Platinum Foundation, organized a Slum visit “SAHARA-A Slum Visit” at Vasna – Near Telephone Exchange, Ahmedabad on 8th September 2022 on the occasion of World Literacy Day.The visit was organized by National Service Scheme (NSS) and Women Development Cell (WDC) of GU . The motto of the event was to spread awareness regarding the importance of education to the slum people as well as information about menstrual hygiene, good touch- bad touch to more than 100 slum girls. This session was done with the collaboration of Smit Foundation, Ahmedabad. Total 30 students including faculty members were a part of this slum visit. More than 100 students got the benefit from this visit. At the end, the team distributed Sofy Sanitary napkins to the girls, which were donated by Unicharm India and GlobalHunt Foundation and stationary items which were donated by GU familyThe event was accomplished under the guidance of Trustees, Director of GIT and with the support of Management Staff, NSS coordinators, WDC coordinators, NSS & WDC Students. The team was happy to bring smiles on the faces of slum people.
