Established in 2023, Gandhinagar Institute of Liberal Studies (GILS) advances liberal education
through interdisciplinary learning and responsible engagement with society. The academic
environment encourages thoughtful inquiry, depth of understanding, and clarity in
communication across the humanities, social sciences, languages, media, arts, and Indian
Knowledge Systems, fostering strong intellectual and personal foundations.
The Institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in English, Psychology,
Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work, Journalism & Mass Communication,
Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), Hindi, Gujarati, Geography, and History. Specialized diploma
and degree programmes in Visual Arts (Music, Dance, and Drama), Art Conservation, and
Journalism & Mass Communication extend learning into creative and professional domains.
